A break well-deserved

Phew! Made it through another quarter; Autumn, too! We just had a week-long mini road trip. It is the first road trip in some time that we ended in the same location we started.

First we went over the Cascades, skied at Hoodoo, and went into Bend. Next we headed to the desolate and beautiful northern Nevada Ruby Mountain Range where we hiked and skied. Next on to Tahoe (super cheap hotels - $30/night) and teled and nordic skied. Probably the most enjoyable nordic ski of my life. After two days we headed to the CA coast for the redwoods... raining and discouraged by high theft rates we did not backpack as planned (we had too many valuables in the car) so we headed to the Oregon coast. We attempted a back road over the Coast Range Mountains, snow stopped us and delayed our day a couple hours. We booked it home and hiked Mary's Peak yesterday. Great, great time. I miss the snow already.

PHOTOS (not chronological unfortunately): First three are Mary's Peak, Bear Camp Rd (2), an amazing donut from Susie's Bakery in Weaverville, CA, the snow on the road that turned us around (it only got deeper) on Bear Camp Rd, William enjoying the scenery off Bear Camp Rd (it looked like Hobbiton), Redwood NP, ducks in motel pool, Cholula shot, skiing Tahoe (6), driving a long way, northern Nevada mountains, skinning up the Ruby Mountains, Ruby snowman, Ruby scenery, southeast OR sage land, nordic at Hoodoo, Wake-Up Rilea Creek, wild iris on Bear Camp Rd, flowers at Redwood NP, CA beach walk, Trinity River National Wild and Scenic Riverway, Tahoe skiing (2), Tahoe vistas (2), Ruby Mountain hike (3), and camping in northeastern Nevada.
